Bethesda Announces Fallout 76 Ahead of E3

Bethesda Game Studios

That’s right, Vault dwellers, a new Fallout! Bethesda Game Studios surprised us all today with a teaser for their newest game, Fallout 76. Just yesterday, Bethesda posted a snippet to their twitter account with the recognizable Fallout testing pattern and the hashtag, PleaseStandBy. I think all of us anticipated having to wait until the upcoming E3 conference to find out more, but Bethesda decided to give us a little taste now and we couldn’t be more excited!

Not much is known about the game other than this chapter takes place in West Virginia and Vault 76. Of course, Fallout fans will recognize Vault 76 as having been mentioned in previous games. The Vault-Tec terminal in the Citadel lists Vault 76 as having 500 occupants. One of seventeen “control vaults,” Vault 76 was used as a baseline to compare to experimental vaults. It is mentioned in the alien captive recorded log 13 when a Vault-Tec inspector was abducted while working at the construction sight. In the prologue of Fallout 4, Vault 76 was mentioned as having been debuted in 2076 to celebrate America’s tercentenary.

The game is still in development and will debut on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. Kotaku is reporting Fallout 76 “will be an online game of sorts,” but that has yet to be confirmed. Bethesda will show us more on June 10th at 6:30 PM PT at the E3 conference and we’ll be sure to bring it to you as it happens! In the meantime, enjoy the teaser and get ready to go back to the wasteland!
